Color sorting puzzle with town building

Hypercasual puzzle game at SuperGaming. Sort paint cans by color, fill buckets, and watch gray buildings come alive in vibrant colors as you build your town.

Home Paint Puzzle is a hypercasual puzzle game built at SuperGaming that combines color sorting mechanics with a town-building meta layer. Players sort paint cans by color, fill buckets, and watch gray buildings come alive in vibrant colors as they progress through levels and build out their town.

I worked as the Game Programmer responsible for the core puzzle mechanics and the town-building progression system. The color sorting gameplay needed to be intuitive enough that anyone could pick it up instantly, but the level design had to ramp in difficulty to keep players engaged. Connecting the puzzle completion to visible town transformations gave players a tangible sense of progress.

The main technical challenge was bridging the two systems – a fast, satisfying puzzle loop and a persistent town state that updates visually as the player progresses. Keeping the town rendering performant while supporting dozens of buildings with color transition animations required careful optimization, especially on the low-end devices that make up most of the hypercasual audience.
